Traditional roof renovation means removing, hauling away, and rebuilding. That costs time, money, and brings risks. Think of rising disposal fees for bitumen, the use of cranes and aerial work platforms, and the fire hazard from open flame — up to 1,000 degrees when burning and torching roofing membranes. It is no coincidence that ABN AMRO Insurance reports that 80% of all roof fires originate during roof maintenance.
One layer. Seamless. Flame-free.
GE Enduris 3500 is applied 'cold' using airless spray equipment — fully compliant with NEN 6050 (flame-free working). The existing roof covering stays in place. The result is a seamless, 100% waterproof membrane with 542% elasticity that permanently halts the aging of the underlying layer.
Beforehand, Cool Roof Coatings carries out Pre-Approval Warranty inspections and adhesion tests. Penetrations, seams, drains, and cracks are pretreated with GE Enduris detail products. Only then is the top layer sprayed in a single pass. The membrane is permanently resistant to standing water and ponding.
Safer renovation of roofs with EPS insulation and solar panels
Insurers are increasingly refusing to cover roofs with EPS insulation in combination with solar panels. The cause: the Bouwbesluit 2012 (Dutch Building Decree) sets no requirements for the fire resistance of materials beneath the outer roof layer, while cross-mating of plug connectors causes contact resistance that can lead to fire (source: TNO).
For this reason, Cool Roof Coatings established the 'EPS-PV' working group together with innovative partners. The result: directly applicable solutions for PV on EPS roofs, accepted by insurers including Allianz.
